FAQ's
What do I need to know about before my eyelash extension appointment?
Please come free of makeup, especially mascara. Please shower and wash your hair prior to the appointment, the main thing is to have clean eye and eyelids and keep them dry and away from any/all moisture for 24 hours. Some mascara contains oils that can prevent eyelash extensions from bonding correctly. Do not get your lashes tinted, permed, or curl them before your appointment, this will affect the quality of bonding to the natural lash. Be sure to use oil free makeup remover and if removing makeup dont use any oil or petroleum based products on or around the eye area for 48 hours prior.
As much as we love children unfortunately your child cannot stay with you while being serviced. As you will be unable to attend to your child since the service requires your eyes to be closed through the whole procedure and 95% of the time clients do fall asleep.
Please put cell phones on vibrate, if you must make a call or text, please do it prior to appointment. I will not stop the service to text or answer since I have two sharp tweezers above your eye area and requires my full focus and attention.
What are eyelash extensions? & How are they applied?
Eyelash extensions is a semi-permanent procedure. Adhering single synthetic lashes applied directly to 1/4 of the way up the natural lash never touching the skin, leaving the eyelashes and eyelids to move freely. Carefully applied isolating each indivial lash one by one.
The whole process normally takes 2-3 hours depending on which set you book.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
4-5 weeks without Fills- Depending on maintenance
Indefinitely with Fills every 2-4 weeks - Depending on maintenance
Eyelash extensions generally last until the natural lash falls out in its natural cycle. The average life cycle of a lash is about 4-12 weeks.
Why do I need Fills if they last up to five weeks?
The eyelash extension falls out with your natural lash cycle which is 6-8 weeks. Very gradually just a few here and there, eyelashes fall out as new growth comes in. After 2-3 weeks to avoid seeing small gaps where old ones had fallen and new ones are growing in, we would fill with extensions. This is how to maintain the nice full look.
Are the materials you use safe and good quality?
Yes, the eyelash extensions used are the highest quality and available in all sorts of lengths and thicknesses, customized to suit you. The adhesive is of a high quality and medically approved ingredients.
All equipment is sterilized before each use.
Can I wear my contact lenses/glasses with my eyelash extensions?
Yes. of course you can wear your contacts with your eyelash extensions. You may find it more comfortable to remove your contacts before your appointment.
Dont forget to bring your own contact case to remove them at your appointment.
Will eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
Not if they are applied properly! We apply eyelash extensions taking special care. To ensure that they are all applied individually and correctly to maintain your eyelash health. to ensure the ongoing health of your lashes, we highly recommend that you take the advice of the technician regarding the maximum thickness and length that would be appropriate long term for your natural lash fall out, and so long as an appropriate weight extension has been applied. Your natural lashes will grow through as normal.
Inexperienced technicians or those who rush (Salons tha are not train or specialize) or I found cheaper are apt to apply lashes that are too heavy or clumped them together which can definitely result in damaging the lashes.
iLash and Skincare Beauty Bar does not believe in Quantity over Quality, we aim to give you beautiful lashes applied properly and carefully to remain as healthy as always. Using growth formula also helps to strengthen and condition your natural lashes while having extensions on and will not cause the eyelash extensions to fall off.
Can I wear makeup?
Yes, Eyeliner and Eye shadow are fine, try to remove any or all eye makeup every night with an oil free makeup remover. We do not recommend applying mascara onto your eyelash extensions as it causes to clump together and may contain oils that weaken the adhesive bond on your eyelash extensions, so they will not last as long. If you intent on wearing mascara must be a oil free mascara.
